Chess Tournaments

We offer two types of tournaments:

Interschool Chess Tournaments

Pathway to Victorian State Finals

Organized in partnership with Chess Victoria, these tournaments allow students to qualify for State Semi-Final and Final competitions.

Schedule

Held throughout the year.

Participation

Schools nominate teams or individual players to compete.

Individual Chess Competitions

Open to all chess players, especially participants from Healthy Minds Chess Academy.

Provides a great opportunity to compete in a challenging, FIDE (International Chess Federation)-regulated environment.

Benefits for Students

Test their skills against strong opponents
Develop sportsmanship and critical thinking
Recognition with certificates and medals
Opportunity to qualify for Victorian interschools State championships 

Event Rules

FIDE - complaint rugulations, including time control's
Clear explanation of tournament rules at the start of each event
Clear explanation of managing disputes and player issues
Safety measures to best manage health and player risks
Code of conduct and sportsmanship, including behaviour expectations
